Valencia Back to Manchester

BOSTON - Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson Antonio Valencia putting the fly to England. The reason, Sir Alex might not ask him to join the squad who were United's preseason tour to the United States.

Valencia returned to Manchester after suffering an ankle injury during the opening match of Ecuador in Copa America 2011. Although not serious, Ferguson is not taking any chances and told the players to return to United's training complex for treatment.

"Antonio was straight back to Manchester," Ferguson said after the 4-1 win over the New England Revolution in Boston, was quoted as saying Football365 on Wednesday (13/07/2011).

"We have facilities at Carrington, where it is the best place for him," he continued. Valencia's current position is replaced by players who carried off his new Ashley Young of Aston Villa.

Young played that role so well that managed to bring victory in the inaugural United's preseason tour to America.

"His ability is such that it can play on the left, he can play behind the striker and he could be widened," said Fergie assess Young's performance.
