Somali pirates Pirate Ship Arab Emirates

Mogadishu - Somali pirates hijack oil tanker of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 16 crew hostage (ABK).

MV XX carrying oil Jubba Somali pirates held hostage in the North Indian Ocean waters. The ship departed from the UAE to the port in Somalia, Berbera.

"A total of nine Somali pirates in the ship," said the EU force told Reuters on Tuesday (19/07/2011).

Crew of the ship came from Sri Lanka, Kenya, Sudan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, and Somalia.

According to one trader in Mogadishu, the ship that carried goods to the Horn of Africa region has always been a target of piracy of the Somali pirates.

The existence of Somali pirates considered very dangerous to maritime security. The pirates demanded a ransom often in an amount not less as a condition that the vessel was released.
