Japan Bans Sale of Beef Fukushima

Tokyo: The Japanese government plans to suspend all shipments of live cattle Fukushima amid increasing fears of radiation contaminated meat. "The move is likely to be taken is that we will ban shipments of beef," said Goshi Hosono, government officials in charge of nuclear radiation effects as reported by BBC Indonesia, on Monday (18 / 7).

Recently found 136 cows have been eating animal feed affected by radioactive cesium. Initial discovery of contaminated meat was thought to have come from farms in nearby Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, but later found contaminated meat from farms located in remote areas, about 100 kilometers from the NPP.

The findings are the latest health cases due to nuclear radiation from nuclear power plant in Fukushima Daiichi damaged by the earthquake last March. Four months later, the radioactive material is still out of the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The number of cattle that have eaten hay found radioactive contamination is high, more and more. Dealers in Japan previously had bought beef exposed to radioactive and some meat may have come to the consumer. Major supermarket chain Aeon said that hundreds of kilograms of beef have been sold in 14 branches in Tokyo and several surrounding areas
