Jellyfish Disturb British-owned nuclear power plants

LONDON - A nuclear power plant (NPP) in the UK was forced to close, after the reactor reportedly overloaded. The reactor was filled with jellyfish found in sea waterfilter.

"The two reactors at Torness nuclear power plant forced to shut down manually onJune 28. The closure was done because of the high volume of jellyfish that meets thewater in the cooling system," the statement from EDF Energy which operates thenuclear plant told AFP on Friday (1 / 7 / 2011).

Explained that the closure was a safety measure. EDF Energy Party insisted there was no threat of nuclear danger when this incident occurred.

"When the incident took place, there is no danger to society reported," continued theEDF Energy.

Furthermore, the EDF adds, workers are working hard to clean up the jellyfish from the water near the nuclear power plant. While other staff will continue to monitor thethreat of other jellyfish.

"The reactor will be switched on again when the number of jellyfish can be reduceddramatically," said the EDF Energy.
