Proclaim the official Xinhua news agency on Tuesday (12 / 7), United States President Barack Obama said his country is ready to support negotiations leading to a transition to democracy in Libya. However, on one condition, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi must resign from office.
"The U.S. is ready to support negotiations leading to a transition to democracy in Libya's Gaddafi provided unyielding," said a statement issued by the White House.
Obama also expressed his gratitude to the Russians who had been critical in responding to problems in Libya [read: Russia: NATO attack to Libya Violating UN Resolution]. Obama also pledged U.S. support for efforts to reach a framework peace agreement that would end the conflict in Libya.
