U.S. Ready to Arm the Philippines


WASHINGTON - The United States (U.S.) states would be prepared to provideequipment to modernize the Philippine military is currently experiencing tensions with China.

Philippine Foreign Minister visited the United States Albert Del Rosario and said the Philippines hopes to hire equipment to modernize the military because of the Philippines and China are currently merebutkan regions of the South China Sea.

"We are committed to helping the Philippine defense sector," said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as quoted by AFP on Friday (06/24/2011).

Tensions in the South China Sea experienced an escalation in the week. Vietnam and the Philippines had previously invited the U.S. to take action for peace in the region is also claimed by China.

"We worry about events in the South China Sea could destroy the peace and stabilityslowly," said Clinton.
