South Korea to North Korean Refugees Release 9 Settled


SEOUL - The government of South Korea (ROK) to free nine North Korean refugees (North Korea) who arrived in South Korea to choose whether they want to live in the South or go home.

The refugees were previously questioned by the police, armed forces, and intelligence related to the intent and purpose of his return to South Korea.

"The most important thing is their will. They can choose to go home or stay here," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Byung-jae, as quoted by AFP on Thursday (06/16/2011).

"The principle we are in dealing with this problem is to respect their will," he added.

In February, the ship carrying North Korean refugees to float above the Yellow Sea. South Korea when it returns 27 North Korean refugees into the country, while four others chose to stay in South Korea.

Currently, the North was demanding that nine refugees were returned to their countries.

Seoul says more than 21 thousand North Koreans have fled to South Korea since the Korean War in 1950 to 1953
