Bahrain Exempt 20 Medical Officers

Manama - Bahrain frees 20 more paramedics, who were arrested on suspicion ofparticipating in anti-government demonstrations.

Approximately 48 doctors and nurses were arrested for allegedly supportinganti-government protests in March. Anti-government demonstrations which broke outwas carried out by Shiite citizens.

The medics are also on trial in Bahrain Military Court. Previously, it was said that the doctors in Bahrain have been tortured. Similarly, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday (06/29/2011).

Doctors accused of using the largest hospital in Bahrain as the base of the dissidentswho would overthrow the regime. They are also accused of stealing the blood bankand distribute weapons to use an ambulance.

The family claimed that the doctor who was arrested by the authorities were forced tostand for 1 week and not allowed to sleep.
