28 Taliban Militants Arrested in Afghanistan

KABUL - The police officer informs Farah province, as many as 28 Taliban rebelswere arrested in a joint Afghan and North Atlantic defense pact (NATO).

Police Chief Sayed Mohammad Roshandel stated, in a joint Afghan and NATOtroops, the Taliban member was arrested at Blook Bala District, Farah Province.Similarly, as reported from TOLOnews, Monday (06/13/2011).

In operation the apparatus keamananmenyita all arms belonging to the militant.

This joint operation was held due to the increased activity of militancy in some partsof Afghanistan and the rise of militant attacks against police stations, governmentbuildings and foreign troops.

In July, NATO will hand over security responsibilities to Afghan forces in seven areasand they also will increase its operations in areas prone to militancy.

Currently, approximately 152 thousand foreign troops in Afghanistan. 100 thousand of them are U.S. troops (U.S.), while more than 239 foreign troops were reported killedthis year in Afghanistan.
