Prompted CIA Investigated human rights violations

BRUSSELS - European Commission urged Lithuania, Poland, and Romania to explain their involvement in the detention and torture program has done the U.S. Intelligence Agency (CIA), to terrorism suspects.

European Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg stated, "The destruction experienced by European human rights system, can not be repaired when the truth has not been disclosed".

Hammarberg urged these countries to explain the programs that run the CIA against terrorism suspects in their prisons. Throughout the 1990s, hundreds of flights carrying detainees to terrorism based on the CIA prisons outside the country.

These include prisons in Lithuania, Poland, and Romania. Included also, the detainees also being flown in a U.S. military base in Guantanamo, Cuba. So reported the Associated Press on Monday (05/01/2011).

No less, these prisoners often have a very cruel torture during interrogation methods they undergo. For these three countries were expected to give a clear explanation of the practice of torture.

Hammarberg added that the investigation is very important to do even though it requires a very long time.
