JAKARTA - The condition on the border of Thailand and Cambodia at this time is cooled. Currently Indonesia as Chairman of the ASEAN awaits new government's policy regarding the conflict on the border of Thailand.
"It's still a manageable issue Indonesia as chairman of ASEAN. Our concern to ensure the situation in the border remains peaceful," said Foreign Minister Natalegawa, in Jakarta, Thursday (14/07/2011).
"Besides rolling back the peace process from both countries, including asking them to complete the course route (border) it is a problem," he continued.
Foreign Minister acknowledged the presence of the election in Thailand was the issue was delayed. But Thailand's new government is expected to immediately remove its policies.
"Of course we await the new administration of Thailand. Hopefully demonstrate its openness to solve this problem. Includes also provide the opportunity for ASEAN to get involved in resolving this border issue," said Secretary of State.
As previously known, Yingluck Shinawatra along with Puea Thai party won elections last July 3. Yingluck victory is expected to open opportunities for peace between Thailand and Cambodia on their border problems.
Optimistic is linked to the brother of Yingluck, Thaksin Shinawatra, which is known by the Government of Cambodia. Thaksin, who was on the run from corruption directed at himself, once a special adviser to the Cambodian economy.
