It is made by General James Thurman is currently the Commander of U.S. Forces in South Korea. He said he promised to deal with all sorts of provocations launched by North Korea against South Korea.
Thurman replaced as commander Gen. Walter Sharp, who led 25,500 U.S. troops in South Korea.
"Seoul and Washington is committed to creating stability, preventing conflict and if necessary, we will fight and win," Thurman said, as quoted by Yonhap, Thursday (07/14/2011).
Thurman also declared himself ready to face provocation aimed at destabilizing conditions on the Korean peninsula.
"South Korea and the U.S. alliance is much more powerful than you imagine, and we will not condone any provocation from North Korea," South Korean military said General Han Min-Koo.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula is increasing, especially after North Korea allegedly launched torpedonya to South Korean warship and killed 46 people.
North Korea also denied the accusation but, last November, killing four North Koreans at the border, including two civilians.
