Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) through New Hilux targeting sales of around 600 to 700 units of type of vehicle pick-ups per month.
"Potential Hilux market could reach 1,000 units per month, but due to a lack of supply, then the estimated sales reached only 600-700 units per month," said Joko Trisanyoto TAM Marketing Director, at the launch of New Hilux, here on Wednesday.
Based on data from TAM during the first half, sales of Toyota pick-up reached 4187 units, with the highest sales in March of 1181 units. However, due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, sales continued to decline in June and improved with 647 units in wholesale rates (up to the level of dealer sales).
Joko said the demand pick-up in the world are increasing, so supply Hilux - fully imported (CBU) from the base of the Toyota pick-up production in Thailand to Indonesia - not much.
"If we order 800 units, could be supplied only 400 or 600 units, as demand pick-up world is rising, such as Australia, and Latin American countries in the region," he said.
Therefore, said Joko, an estimated time of pivot (waiting period) Hilux shipments could reach two months.
"Sales of the Toyota pick-up on average for a single cabin and double cabin 600's per month," said Joko. He is optimistic that with improved automotive market in the second half, then sales could break the 700-800 units per month.
Added GM Marketing Planning Widyawati TAM, Indonesia is not considered market Toyota pick-ups are huge when compared to other countries such as Australia.
