Gaddafi Ready to Give up his post

MOSCOW - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has admitted prepared to give up his position with the change is given security guarantees. This report was mentioned by a newspaper in Russia today.

Newspapers report from Kommersant says that Gaddafi is willing to step down from his post. It came a day after a meeting between leaders of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Anders Fogh Rasmussen and President of South Africa Jacob Zuma.

The meeting was held to find ways to end the war in Libya. But until now unclear what the results achieved from the talks.

"Gaddafi gives a signal that he was ready to fall from power. But instead he is given security guarantees," said the newspaper Kommersant quoted as saying by Reuters on Tuesday (05/07/2011).

Kommersant also reported that the leader who has been in power for 42 years, wants his son Saif al-Islam to be allowed to run in elections if he was willing to resign. Conditions are likely to be approved by the opposition.

While Saif himself had stated that there should be no negotiations to end the rule of his father. While the opposition parties themselves to make sure it would allow to remain in Libya Gaddafi when deciding to step down.
