TOKYO - Sheikh Ahmad Fahd al-Sabah, Kuwait's Minister of Housing and Development, was re-elected as Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for the period 2011-2015 in a general assembly in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday (14 / 7).
Selection is made by acclamation, as no other candidate who challenged for the position of chairman Ahmad 44 member states of the Olympic Council, which consists of 45 countries previously. Indeed the only country that does not choose Fahd is Kuwait, due to sanctions imposed by the freezing of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Japan was chosen to host the 58th meeting of the OCA in order to celebrate the commemoration of more than one hundred years of the founding of the Olympic Committee. This election also as a form of support to Japan after the hit by the earthquake and tsunami waves some time ago.

OCA was formed in 1982 and Sheikh Ahmad Fahd al-Sabah, who is also member of the IOC-led the council since 1992. OCA based in Kuwait, is the largest sports agencies in Asia under the IOC.
