ISLAMABAD - Pakistani troops backed by jets and helicopter gunships had killed 40al Qaeda militants in Mohmand within three days.
Brigadier Aftab Ahmad said his troops managed to destroy 17 militants in Baizaiheadquarters.
"Militants often attack the military outpost on the Afghan border that is in Shonkari andMithai, they are also targeting vehicles to Afghanistan," said Ahmad, told AFP onFriday (07/01/2011).
Ghalanai a major city in Mohmand, where Pakistani soldiers began to attack theheadquarters of the militants.
"The operation was launched three days ago with the support of aircraft, helicoptersand fighter jets. We successfully killed 40 militants," said Ahmad.
Government in Baizai Maqsood Hussain received the news of the attack along withthe dead, but do not know how Pakistani officials counted 40 victims.
