MUMBAI - India claimed to have no clue nor the alleged perpetrators of the bombings in Mumbai. While the government revised the death toll from 21 to 17 people.
Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram said the Indian intelligence did not receive any warning, before the blast in Mumbai. This condition indicates the Government of India, there was no readiness to face terrorists.
"Whoever planned this attack, really worked hard to hide," Chidambaram said as quoted by the Associated Press, Thursday (14/07/2011).
Chidambaram claimed the police were trying hard to find groups that are considered responsible for this attack. But the statement did not make the citizens feel safe and questioned the performance of the security forces, after a similar attack that occurred in the year 2008.
"After the attacks in 2008 and the media exposure of the guarantee, we make sure the situation is completely safe. But evidence of similar incidents happening again and again vulnerable citizens in Mumbai," said resident Anita Ramaswami.
Until now I have no claim of responsibility for the bomb attacks and the Government of India refused to speculate who was behind the attacks.
"We will not look for scapegoats. The government will continue to search for the perpetrators of this attack. We will not draw a conclusion quickly," said Chidambaram.
After the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Indian officials claimed to strive to create security in the country. But it seems with this attack, the Government of India has not tried hard enough.
