BAGHDAD - The bombing at a Sunni mosque in Baghdad claimed the lives of the largest 29 people and wounding 38 others. Most of the injured were in critical condition.
The explosion occurred when pilgrims were performing Tarawih in the blue-domed mosque at 21:40 local time on Sunday (28 / 8). AFP reported citing local officials.
Military spokesman of Baghdad Operations Command, Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, said, "That a lawmaker Khalid al-Fahdawi was among the victims who were killed."
Iraqi military officials further explained that the bombing was carried out in al-Qura mosque in Al-Jamiaah.Para pilgrims at that time were performing the Tarawih.
Local military officials confirmed that the mosque guard was handled by a government backed by a Sunni charity. This increases the likelihood that the perpetrators of terrorist acts that have bantauan from the inside.
Maj. Gen. al-Moussawi said, "It is no doubt kepastianya someone inside the mosque which helps actors. What is certain is that parties are responsible for maintaining the mosque.
